What we actually do
We design and build websites that do a job — get found on Google, make a great first impression, and turn visitors into customers. Here's what that looks like in practice.
Bespoke Website Design
No templates, no page builders. Every Apex Sites website is designed from scratch around your brand, your customers, and what you actually want people to do when they land on your site.
Local SEO Built In
We build every site with Barnstaple and North Devon search rankings in mind — proper metadata, schema markup, Google Business Profile optimisation, and fast page speeds that Google rewards.
Mobile-First, Always
Most of your customers will find you on their phones. We design mobile-first as standard, so your site looks and works brilliantly on every screen size.
Hosted on the Edge
We deploy on Cloudflare's global network — meaning your site loads instantly whether someone's searching from Barnstaple high street or browsing from their sofa in Ilfracombe.
Who we work with in Barnstaple
From independent tradesmen to North Devon holiday lets, we've built sites for businesses right across the area. Here are the types of clients we help most.
Trades & Local Services
Plumbers, builders, electricians, landscapers — if you rely on local customers finding you online, we help you show up and win the enquiry before your competitor does.
Hospitality & Tourism
Holiday lets, B&Bs, restaurants, and attractions in North Devon. We know the seasonal pressures and build sites that convert browsers into bookings.
Professional Services
Solicitors, accountants, consultants, and clinics. If trust is everything in your business, your website needs to feel professional before a potential client ever picks up the phone.
Retail & E-Commerce
Whether you have a shop on Boutport Street or want to sell nationally online, we build fast, secure e-commerce stores that actually drive sales.
Why Barnstaple businesses choose Apex Sites
There's no shortage of web designers out there. Some are good. Many are not. What makes us different isn't a buzzword — it's that we're a small, local team who genuinely care whether your website works.
We've built sites for tradesmen in Bideford, holiday lets in Croyde, professional services firms in Barnstaple town centre, and e-commerce stores shipping nationwide. We know North Devon, and we know what local customers expect.

Common questions
Things Barnstaple business owners usually want to know before getting in touch.
How much does bespoke web design cost in Barnstaple and Devon?
We believe in transparent, fixed-price packages with zero agency bloat. Our bespoke Starter websites start from £250–£499 one-off, with custom Stripe e-commerce stores and membership portals quoted clearly upfront after a free discovery call — never vague hourly day-rates.
Who can host and publish websites in North Devon?
Apex Sites provides fully managed North Devon cloud website hosting (£29/month) powered by Cloudflare’s UK & global edge network. Whether you are publishing a brand-new business website in Devon or migrating away from slow, plugin-heavy WordPress hosting, we handle domain DNS, SSL security, daily backups, and instant publishing for you.
How long does it take to build and publish a website?
Most starter and business websites launch within 7 to 21 days, while custom portals or booking systems take 3 to 5 weeks. We move quickly and handle all technical publishing steps so you can focus on running your business.
Do I need to be technical to work with you?
Not at all. Most of our clients have never dealt with a web agency before. We handle everything — bespoke design, copywriting guidance, North Devon hosting, and Google SEO setup — explaining everything in plain English.
Will my website show up on Google, Bing, and Maps?
Every site we engineer is optimised for search from day one — sub-second mobile load speeds, WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility, LocalBusiness JSON-LD schema markup, and Google Business Profile setup to help you rank across Barnstaple, Bideford, Braunton, and North Devon.
